Boys Bedroom Design

Color Coordination of a Kids Bedroom
One of the main ways to give a pleasing appearance to a kids bedroom is to color coordinate the furnishings. Where do we start? Traditionally there have been favourite colors for males and females - pink is for girls and blue is for boys, but it's important to remember that everyone is an individual. Well it may be best to start with your child's favourite color. Everyone has a favorite, so find out what your child's favorite color is and then work from there.

Generally a room should be decorated so that one color may dominate in the room. They can be closely related to give the room harmony or alternatively the colors may contrast to make something in the room stand out.

It is common for a splash of red to draw your attention to something and make it stand out. Some colors can give a warm or hot feeling, such as red, orange and yellow, while others will give a cool and calming feeling, such as green, blue, cyan or violet. The use of highly saturated colors can make something really stand out.

Very strong effects of color can be achieved when using contrasting fully saturated colors, which will make something stand out and make the character of the room vibrant.

In technical color management, colors from different sectors of the color wheel are contrasting or complementary. The following are complementary colors:

- red and green
- yellow and blue
- purple and chartreuse (half way between yellow and green).
